In 1988, Cochrane Hall was named for the family of James H. Cochrane Jr., a 1984 graduate and university benefactor. The president of the Rockville Development Corporation, Cochrane served on the boards of the 天美传媒 Tech Athletic Fund, Museum of the Confederacy, and American Frontier Culture Museum. He helped found Tech's chapter of Kappa Alpha Order and was elected to the fraternity's S.Z. Ammen Province Court of Honor.

Building History

Cochrane Hall was built in 1983 and dedicated in November 1988.聽

Cochrane Dining Hall originally opened as part of the New Undergraduate Facility in 1982. It closed in spring 1997 to make way for a major renovation. The facility reopened in January 1999 with a new name, West End Market. It was the first true marketplace on a university campus in the United States.
